The Oilers want Spezza and the asking price from Ottawa is Gagner, Nillson, and two 1st round picks. The Oilers do not want to move Gagner but have the depth to do so if a deal was available for the Oilers to acquire Spezza who's no-trade clause kicks in July 1st, 2010.

Spezza for gagner straight up was declined by oilers and those 2 1st rounders in 09 those are amazing picks.
Spezza was never offered straight up for Gagner. Ottawa would decline that so fast. The Oilers would have to give up Gagner, Nillson, and a 1st rounder. Ottawa believes they can get two 1st rounders for Spezza.
